TOWN OF CANAAN
SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Canaan Town Board will hold a Special Meeting at 5:00 PM on June 16, 2026 at the Canaan Town Hall, 1647 County Route 5, Canaan, NY 12029, for SEQRA Review pertaining to the Comprehensive Plan.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Canaan Town Board will hold a Public Hearing in person and via Zoom at the Canaan Town Hall, 1647 County Route 5, at 7:00 pm. on Wednesday, June 03, 2026. The matters to be heard will be the Draft Comprehensive Plan as well as Local Law #2 of the year 2026, which is a Local Law imposing a twelve (12) month moratorium on the subdivision of land and commercial development in the Town of Canaan. Statements in writing will be accepted up until the time of the hearing. The Draft Comprehensive Plan may be viewed at the office of the Town Clerk during normal business hours, or online at any time.

TAKE NOTICE, that I, Heather O’Grady, the undersigned Collector of Taxes of the Town of Canaan, County of Columbia and the State of New York, have duly received the tax roll and warrant for the collection of taxes within the Town of Canaan for the year 2026, and that I will attend at the Town Hall at 1647 County Route 5 in the Town of Canaan on the following days: Monday and Wednesday, from 2:30 pm-4:30pm and for the month of January, Friday, 9:30am-12:00pm for the purpose of receiving payment of taxes listed on said roll.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that taxes may be paid on or before February 02, 2026 without charge or interest. Payment of taxes may now be done by credit/debit card. We will accept payments that are postmarked on February 2. On all taxes received after such date, there shall be added interest of 1% for each additional month or fraction thereof, thereafter until such taxes are paid or until the return of unpaid taxes to the County Treasurer pursuant to law.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that pursuant to the provisions of the law, the tax roll of the Town of Canaan will be returned to the County Treasurer of the County of Columbia on the 1st day of June 2026.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Canaan Comprehensive Plan Committee will hold a Public Hearing on the draft Comprehensive Plan at the Canaan Town Hall, 1647 County Route 5, or via Zoom at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Statements in writing will be accepted until 11:30a.m. on the date of the hearing. The updated draft of the Comprehensive Plan may be viewed at the office of the Town Clerk during normal business hours, or online at any time.
